Santa Ana Pueblo Commissions New Broadband
Wireless Communications Project

The Pueblo of Santa Ana, Georgia Institute of Technology and Southwest
Indian Polytechnic Institute have partnered to create a new model for communications in rural America.

The Project is partly funded by a grant from the National
Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA)--Technology
Opportunity Program (TOP) and partly with Tribal resources.

This community empowerment project will help to overcome barriers to
Tribal self-sufficiency by incorporating state of the art telecommunications technologies into the Pueblo's day to day operations in a manner consistent with the Pueblo culture.

The project, which strives to improve residents' digital fluency, will implement a broadband wireless community network and intranet that will link the Pueblo's government departments, directly to citizen homes to enable better communication and information dissemination, and will provide broadband internet access to every home and business on the Pueblo within two years.
